Allis 7040 powershift availability?

Good morning Orangemen. I am doing some research in hopes to find a powershift clutch pack for my 7040 that I could swap into my pulling tractor in case of failure. My tractor is a 1976. Any assistance is appreciated.

I am looking for the 6 pack assembly, not the limiter.

There's been a couple of good County Fair pulls posted on here that has a strong 8000 series FWA with PST and I'd guess you haven't seen the power he produces going down the track and winning the class. Probably 18,000 lbs or heavier. Posted in the tractor pull section by : Never Green "Son takes first at the fair again". Mr. Never Green has several pull videos of "farm" tractors that do quite well.

I agree. Healthy powershifts seem hard to come by though. I would consider myself a very capable mechanic/machinist that has never touched a powershift so anything could happen. I would like a replacement because I both work and farm and I know that it would take some serious time to go through one on the fly and get back to pulling.

Should have been down one gear. A right hand throttle and a right hand power shift lever isn't the best scenario to have. Can you run 3,000 RPM?? If there isn't a rule against it, make it so. I assume you were in 5th gear ??

Ground speeds on a 7040 PST and 18.4 x 38 rubber is 5.4 MPH in 5th and 6.8 MPH in 6th at 2300 RPM. 20.8 tires are faster yet. 6th was clearly too much gear in a 6.5 MPH class and your engine wasn't spooling up whatever turbo is on it because of low RPM. 5th gear at 3,000 RPM is 7.0 MPH with 18.4 rubber. A gear that you actually will stay spooled up and still manage to turn the tires faster.

That is the same tractor with my kid driving, but it is a PD tractor. Have another 8050 with the power shift my brother drives, used to do very well until he started messing with weights so now my kid whoops up on him.

Thanks. Great pull too. Your son downshifted PS lots on it too. Nice smooth shifts. Allis’ PowerShift transmissions were built tough. Did you do any mods to its PS ?

How much psi are you running to PS plates?
