State of MO, from KC to STL is being revamped, Our sections are Columbia MO to Kingdom City and Wentzville MO to Warrenton for now, after which will be Warrenton to Danville(Loutre River) and Kingdom City to Mineola Hill (the Loutre River opposing bank).

So we started this little soiree' with two Concrete suppliers Just For this highway work, one in Millersburg and one at Foristell, where the latter is just getting to speed, is also KCi and ESS as to Overpass and Bridge reconstruction going on.  The problem I just recognized is the volumes.  The customers will need to be pouring 2000 Yards of Batch EACH at night EVERY Night they pour.  4000 Yards of Concrete Per Night, we cannot supply Sand, NO ONE can Supply Sand at that rate to which the regular usage rates of 200-500yds per day for all non-associated Concrete plants surrounding these sites will not be stopped either.  Is NOT Enough Sand being harvested from the MO River available positions to feed this.  Not Every region of the River has a functional Sand storage region to draw from, ask a Dredge Operator, are Mud Holes, Sand and then Gravel holes, they get drawn down and the river grudgingly reloads those, it does not make sand deposits everywhere nor overnight.

Then The REAL Problem, we are hauling the recovered sand WET, REALLY Wet, as in not having more than one to three days drain/dry down time on the bank, my trailer will be dripping as get to the yard this morning from Sand loaded yesterday at 3:30pm, UNSUSTAINABLE when air temps drop into the Thirties, that point being just a few WEEKS Away.  Will NOT release and Unload from the hauling bed, will Stick and be Stuck, takes time and back breaking labor to Shave the beds once Frozen.  This will not be any better for dredge crews attempting to send that sand to the Bank Piles by raft and conveyors.

Will put it inti easier math.
1 yard Concrete takes approx 1400 lbs dry sand, 14 cu ft at 100lbs/cu ft.
That will for all the base values of Concrete used per day equate to 7000 tons per day and divide that by a truckload at 24-25 tons is 28 truck loads less that water included. So closer to 32-35 truckloads. Can only achieve Five loads in a 12 hour period so seven dedicated trucks per day. Just for Highway and Overpass work. Can only bank a permit value of sand per quarter, IIRC was 70,000 ton. Ten days supply.

Engineers and DOT management should have taken this into consideration before planning the schedule for this project. IMHO This will lead to quality deficiencies and safety violations.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

The last years before I retired, I transported cement from the mills to the concrete batch plants for many road jobs around here. These plants would operate 24/7 when the weather permitted. Two major jobs were US 48 across WV and US 219 south of the Pa Pike. Often then were 10-12 tankers unloading any any one time. It helps that there are many cement plants in this area of Md, Pa,VA & WV.
Also there are many sand pits and many concrete recyclers the reclaimed sand can be had from.
Back in my O/O days I hauled sand and stone. Those plastic liners where just becoming available. I've seen many times in colder weather those with liners and a barn door just dump out nearly a block of frozen sand. For me it was never that bad as I started my day with a load of stone and sand was always the return and was never on the trailer for much over an hour.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY
