D14 #3 had a bad carb when I bought it. Choke control was frozen and probably had bad gas in it just like the gas tank had. Got the Marvel Schebler carb cleaned in an untra sonic cleaner and put a rebuild kit in it. It looks good and works OK, but I can't get it adjusted properly. I currently run half open choke, idle air adjustment turned all the way in, and the load adjusting screw turned out 2 turns. I cannot get it to run with the choke closed. It will not run at all when set according to the manual. Backing the idling screw out one and a half turns will make it run leaner as the manual says it will. Backing out the load adjusting screw is supposed to solve that problem, but I do not think it does anything at all. I backed it out around half an inch and it never made a difference. Needed more choke to make it run straight. Took the whole adjuster out and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Any idea what the problem could be and how to make it work properly? Thanks in advance!

if you have the choke half on, your running out of gas............ I know you said you cleaned the carb, but something is plugging a port, or float is way off ............ assuming you dont have a BIG air leak in the intake manifold ?

Tank was cleaned and lined earlier this year. Fresh gas. Lots of gas at the carb. Runs perfectly with a different carb on it.

Drill out the removeable jet in the bottom of the bowl .002" and try it again with the load jet backed out more than 2 turns to start with.

That carb has a passage blocked as Steve mentioned. Shouldn't have to drill anything out to make it run right. Probably a tiny chunk of rust or debris in that bugger. Might take it off and run some fine wire through the idle circuits. Doesn't take much to mess up one of those Carburetors. Steve@B&B
