Back in the day when I was a teenager, my dad bought an Allis Chalmers tractor to use around a small farm that we were renting.  He said that he bought it to give me something to do and to keep me out of trouble!!   This was in the mid-fifties - so many years ago.   I have since retired, and have an idea that I would like to find a similar AC tractor based on the same model that I used back in the day.   I need some help identifying the year and model ,saw your forum and thought someone might be able to help.   I recall that the tractor had the following features:  the wide front end, but not "bowed" similar to the B model; the starter was a rod activated with the heel of my right foot;  the seat was wide and padded with a metal backrest; the attachment points for the two plows was a flat two piece bar that had to be bolted (the two plows were in opposite configuration); and the drawbar had to big bolts that screwed into the inside of the rear wheel frame.    I apologize in advance if my recollections are not clear, but it has been a while.  I would like someone , if possible from the sketchy description, to tell me the year, model, etc. and post a picture of one if possible.   Thank you for your assistance for an old man who really loved the tractor and would like to find another.

Cs are quite plentiful and pretty cheap even for a good one.  Welcome to the forum. Enjoy it and owning a Allis or 2 or 3.        Lots of  Small Allis owners hang out here.
Wish you were closer to NE TEXAS.   You could come down and us two old men could put back together a running driving narrow front C I took apart for painting. Work off the selling price with Labor. I could use the extra room in the shop with it gone.

Everything in your description also applies to a later model B with an adjustable wide front axle. The C had wider final drives to enable it to straddle two rows spaced 40 inches apart, while the B was narrower, in order to straddle one row. They were otherwise quite similar. A model B would have the arm from the steering box attached to the left side of the front axle steering linkage, while a model C would have the steering arm very close to the hood and attached to another arm coming out the left side of the tractor front end casting, below the grille side. Hope this helps.

A wide front C would be a two plow tractor. A B with adjustable front axle would still be a one plow tractor. All CA tractors, to my knowledge, had a floor pan, hand clutch, and a suspension(narrow metal pan) seat. If your tractor had cultivator lift rods and brackets on both sides of the seat, it was a C. Should have had a depth lever for cultivators on BOTH sides if equipped with cultivators. If it had the pick up plow on the rear, I couldnt be sure. Double pick up plows had a spilt rock shaft that ran horizontally behind the seat. Had a split valve that lifted left or right side, depending on which plow you needed. Referring to turning plows here. The rock shaft was on all Bs and Cs equipped with implement lift. Two way pick up plows had a special one as I described above.
There was a rear tool bar that could hold various implements. Ours had shanks with trip feet for plowing out the wheel tracks when cultivating. We used them to lay off rows. Had three shanks. Laid off two roys at a time by putting the rear tire in the last furrow on the next pass. Hope this may help. Sorry for the long post. Welcome to the forum!
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

My sincere thanks to all who replied.  I learned so much from your responses.  I am still trying to get a description from memory, but that is sketch, at best.  I do recall the two  plows were configured in opposite directions - if that makes sense.  I had to turn at the end of the furrow and go in the opposite direction for the other plow to be used.  I really wished I could be of more help, however, the plowing aspect has stuck with me -don't ask why!!   Also, the mower was mounted to the middle.  Thanks again for the information.

B's and C's had a 3-speed transmission.  CA's had 4 speeds and power shift spin-out rear wheels.

Here is a picture of a narrow front C. The actual wide front would have the steering linkage in the same place.

This is a picture of a B. The adjustable straight bar front axle would have the same steering arm in this place.

The drawbar on the inside is for the B with the wider C drawbar over the outside of the B drawbar.

Thanks again to all who replied.  I think, that from all your descriptions, it had to be a later model B.  The location of the steering arm is what I recall and is mostly where I remember it being located and configured.  I'm really pleased that I "stumbled" upon this forum-it has been very helpful with the most knowledgeable members.  Thanks again!

Adjustable wide front B   Sounds to me what you remember if not a CA with hand clutch.

Thanks
