7045 Lift Arm Control

Got something way out of adjustment or loosened up ( or broken ). 
If you pull back on the lift arm lever (all the way raised), it will slowly work forward lowering the arms.  It gets to a point, and then lowers very quickly, like the weight is pulling it down.  If you put a load on it (plowing), it feels like it actually fights you wanting to pull itself all the way down.  I had to physically hold it in position or it would suck all the way down.  Fun to do while having to fart around with the tail wheel at the same time!  It behaves this way regardless of traction booster set at 1 or 6.

What am I looking at here?

	Probably the friction device on the 3-point lever needs to be adjusted or may have something wrong with it. If you remove the top of the console and look, you'll see a spring loaded device that has a friction pad (like a disc brake) on it. When you pull rearward on the lever, it flexes and has zero drag. When the lever is not being pulled to the rear it sets up and holds the lever in one spot. Take a look. Might just need to tighten the adjusting nut a little. This is where I'd start. You still might have linkage behind the cab that is rusted and causing the problem, but start with the lever.

	Thanks Doc. I'll take a look. I don't think it's rust as I've been using it for a few days "normally" before this began to happen, so something loosening up sounds likely.

	The shaft screws in and out in order to adjust the one way brake. MACK

	The friction device was the culprit. Thanks guys, that was an easy one.
