 After I push in the clutch pedal the pedal does not spring back out. To get the cutch to re-engage I must pull the pedal back out with my hand. I first checked the return spring on the clutch pedal, but the spring is in good working order.
 What else could be wrong?

If it's a power director, it's the clutch cable sticking.

Happy to see this post and the responses! My 7045 started doing this last week also. Started that when I used it clutch to kick the pd from high to low to turn corners it didn't relase like it should. It was verydusty and I figured I just needed to take the floor panel out and give everything a cleaning, then it started acting like you described and I was getting scared. I finished planting and hadn't got back to dig in yet but was starting to worry. I had replaced the cable once, but as I think about it that was close to 1000 hours of work ago!

I call my dealer first thing this morning to get the cable on order. To my surprise they had one on hand. So I picked it up and started removal of the old cable. Didn't realize how much tin had to come off just to get to the 4 points holding the cable on. The cable was the issue. Not sure why as it looks so simple. Glad I didn't need to split the tractor.
Would it be wise to put a lubricant in the new cable before installation?

Thanks for all your help.

I have tried to lubricate the cable before installation, but that just seems to collect dust. There is a hard liner inside, that the cable rides against, and once that has worn through, not much you can do but replace it.

I would pull the pedal off and grease its shaft while your at it.

Lubricate the fork assembly down low and make sure the bronze bushings are in good condition.
