This may have been asked in an earlier discussion before, even by me but I don't find it. My F3 manual specifies Dexron II for the hydro drive/hydraulic system which I know has long ago been upgraded. In reading labels of the latest versions of Dexron, some say replaces Dexron II, some say do not use as Dexron II. What do you guys use? I am looking at either Dex/Merc or Dexron VI I think. Thanks.

Who says don't use Dexron?? Later model Gleaners in 1997 ?? started using Power Fluid 821XL tractor hydraulic oil, but I don't remember any F-3 using that. Stick with Dexron or it's replacement (Dex 2 or 3 ??) You'll never be able to completely drain all your old oil out, so you'd be mixed apples and oranges together if you switch.

Thanks. I was just comparing labels on the bottles which caused confusion. Dexron VI is the latest I think, labeled as replacement for II. VI it will be.
I just wasn't sure about dex/merc labeled fluid I guess. |

The Dexron is backward compatible. That is, if something called for II, you can use III or VI.
