What's every one running for a fuel transfer pump?  Originally had on a Holley pump found out to last only a couple of yrs.  I switched to a facet pump from Napa 4-7 psi.  I was very happy with it 5-6 yrs.  I thought i would try a new one as my filter was not keeping up with my run time.  Tractor runs great till fuel filter cant keep up and then dies.  i've tried new filters and even tool off fuel lines back to the tank to look for a obstacle covering the hole in the tank.  I'm running out of ideas is 4-7  psi enough?  The only other thing is I took off the steel fuel line from the top of the filter to the injection pump my nut seals have seen better days,  would that be enough for my transfer pump to not be able to keep up?  I don't see any visible leaks of fuel while running.

Whatever pump you are using needs to be rated for more than 10 gallons per hour. Like maybe 20 or 30 GPH, but 10 MINIMUM. A 7080 would burn that much at full load.  Pressure doesn't make flow. 4 to 7 PSI is plenty. Whatever pump you use must be of a commercial or industrial quality, made for many hrs and years of service life. That isn't a $50 pump. And you realize there were more 7000 series made without an electric pusher pump than with, right ??  When they went to two fuel filters (primary and secondary) is when the electric was added.

What’s your tractor’s fuel filter(s) specs? AGCO? Cat? Aftermarket?
And what’s the fuel filter’s micron levels? 2? 5? 10?
Diesel fuel is more viscous than gasoline type fuels. So it’s inherently slower flowing.
On average a new clean fuel filter could produce 0.3-0.8 psi pressure drop?
Likewise a dirty/clogged fuel filter might produce 1-3psi drop?
And a 10 or lower micron secondary fuel filter for fine particles could produce another 0.3-0.5 psi drop? A pre-filter might have a 40,50,(dia of human hair) or higher micron element for larger fuel particles with little to no psi drop?
Point is, it all adds up to slow fuel flow, which creates more drag on a fuel pump. Some people (truckers, etc) will install a fuel pressure gauge just after the fuel pump. Then they’ll know by the gauge’s readings when fuel filters are requiring servicing.
