Try your explanation again.  Engine off, the shift lever "clicks" into R-N-1-2-3-4-5-6  ?? Yes or no ??   Engine running and Park lever in LOW range what happens ??   You CANNOT have your foot on the clutch pedal one tiny bit, or you will never get the shift lever to click beyond 4th gear …..

Yes you are correct in how my brother explained the issue   in high or low the tractor acts stuck like uts in gear and will die if you let clutch out in reverse and 1st and 2nd but would move in 3 and 4

I'd have to get into my service book, but initially sounds like a stuck valve. It could be worse and much deeper inside, but I'd have to research. Your tractor?? or for sale ??

Also this is an 82 had the throttle on the dash which sticker and all is still there but on shifter console they moved the h/l and range shifter to the right and added the throttle on left right next to them on top   wish I could get pic on here   it's way neat. Was there an upgrade to do this.     Also I've been reading my 7000 series service manual and I'm gathering that it may be a stuck valve   any more input would be greatly appreciated thanks
