What is the pulley size on alternator and what is the tooth count on the tach drive, and inside alternator. Have a feeling the hour meter seems to be rolling over too fast.

I have been down that road and I can’t remember what the tooth count should be. I did go to harbor freight and buy a tachometer that came with reflective tape I put on the pto shaft and verified my reading was correct. The tach wasn’t all that expensive and I use it to verify all of my tractors.

Just out of curiosity, what does the tach needle show? We got a complete rear assembly for our 190 alternator from a local starter/alternator shop with "AGCO" numbers, they were for a MASSEY tach

If anyone ever runs into trouble with the tachometer itself, I had great luck sending them to a gentleman in Florida named Haim Zeevi. He rebuilds them. He is very professional and does excellent work. Does work for show cars and tractors as well so is very particular. He also rebuilds and reworks cables, and has other miscellaneous items to repair tachs and speedometers.

The way those tachometers were designed to work was 1 hr was logged if the engine was ran near full throttle for an hour (rated speed 2,200 ). So, there's no way it can rack up more hrs unless the tachometer needle is buried at half throttle.
