You start by losing the front cast iron support underneath the radiator and sharper rear tires.

How fare in is ur draw bar. I can't run with mine in all the way. It's taken a lot of runs to get my 190 to hook up,moving weight, hitch and makeing a custom front end. Now it hooks every time.

Same problem with my 185, I run the drawbar all the way in. Should I pull it back out to where I use it in the field? It spins out every time

I used to have to extend the drawbar to get enough leverage to try to get the front end light. The 180/185 are very heavy on the front. |

JW...that looks like mild steel, don't it bend down while pulling?

Shameless its 1 inch thick I haven't bent it yet and its a little wider than the factory draw bar, its actually wear resistant steel bar we use at work a little bit better than middle steel.

I will get some pictures of my rear tires in the morning and up load them so everyone can see how the tires a worn look kind of like top cuts but the worst part is there special service tires or rice and cane tires at about 50 % tread or less I ran them last time at 7 psi this weekend I am going to go down to about 4 psi in them and see what happens.

I don't think I can bend it but I could be wrong on that I have seen stuff you wouldn't think you could break broke in dozen parts too or bent up.

That drawbar is already a lot longer than what I run. I would also lose the clevis and make something that fastens solidly to your drawbar!
Tires are also very important, and as said earlier 38's are pretty much a must have. |

It's almost impossible to tell if a drawbar is going to work by looking at it. A drawbar that doesn't work at all might work great if you can relocate 500 lbs. from the front to the extreme rear of the tractor.
On the (antique) WD-45 I occasionally pull, I can't come close to getting the front end light at our local county fair which has a stone dust track with very little bite. When we pull on a clay track about 40 miles away, without changing one thing, I can't keep the front end on the ground. There are a few things you might be able to do to help your spinning out situation: 1. GET RID OF THE CLEVIS !!! If your association allows it, make a 3/4" to 7/8" steel plate with a 3" round hole that bolts to your drawbar. Your clevis drops as soon as you tighten the chain. You might lose as much as a couple inches of drawbar height with a clevis. 2. Lighten the front end of the tractor (which is usually not as easy as it sounds). 3. Put all the moveable weight behind the rear axle. 4. You might want to have someone video your pull and watch the rear tires. I always felt the secret was hard tires on a hard (clay) track and softer tires on softer (stone dust) tracks. 5. Try making your drawbar adjustable in and out and up and down. When you vary tire pressure, you need to compensate on hitch height. I use two overlapping steel bars with several 5/8" hole in each, so I can adjust in and out easily by removing a couple bolts and adjusting the overall length of the drawbar. I agree lose the clevis before you hook again, I would be way more concerned with that p.o.s. cast pin than bending your draw bar. now is this a pulling only tractor or a farm tractor, if it is a pulling tractor shorten the draw bar up to 21 inches from center of the rear to the hook point ( i go 21 so no pissed off tech can say your 1/16 of an inch to short and you cant pull

I run a 190 in the 8000# class. I'm 2200lbs on the front axle and haven't even tried to strip more off. I run 600lbs behind the axle and 400lbs underneath. Hitch 20" from center axle and 20" high. I run 23.1x34 and it hooks excellent.
