Good Evening
I have a D14 with a 3 point hitch. Snap coupler. I have no intentions of farming, it will eventually be painted and placed in a parade etc. Until that happens, I would like to be able to use a small utility trailer for yard jobs. Has a 1 7/8" ball hitch. Is there a way to make that happen? From Eastern NC |

Get a drawbar for it. Not that hard to find. You must remove the SC 3 point to do it. HTH Tracy

The farm stores used to sell a bar which pinned in the 3pt arms and usually had a series of holes and you could hitch a wagon to it. Trying to mount a ball on it would require some kind of gadget to keep it upright. Better yet. Make an A frame which pins to the 3pth and weld a tounge on the bottom cross bar for mounting ball or hitching wagon.

I picked up a home built A-frame hitch years ago for my Hindu Ford. It was roughly made but sturdy. It is very handy and I have used it it a lot. I have a NOS draw bar for the 3 point arms that has never been used and I rarely use the factory draw bar.

One thing to keep in mind when hooking to a 2-wheel trailer is this: any of those 3-point hitches only support down pressure on the ball. If you load your 2-wheel trailer heavy to the rear, causing upward movement of the tongue, the hitch will probably go up as well !! This might cause a safety issue and it may not. I think the little "N"-series Fords had a couple of flat iron straps to secure the hitch so it could not raise up on its own in a situation like that.,
