just put the recently bought 7080 on the dyno yesterday for about 30 mins but only get 130 hp out of it. this tractor has been sitting for a few yrs but had a complete engine overhual couple hundrend hrs before parking it. just recently put an injector pump from a 7580 on it . it has the tank 3/4 full of 4yr old fuel. its starts and runs fine but just doesnt have the power i was wanting. this old fuel playing a big part in not getting the power out of it??? is the pump not turned out to the hp it should be??
sorry for the long post
thanks for your help

forgot to mention when the tractor is at full pin it really sounds great.. never been around a 426 with a turbo.. also the filters for fuel were changed and the filters for oil and the oil were changed aswell

Are you getting any smoke? Could be that the turbo is not spooling up enough to produce proper boost.

Save yourself a lot of speculation and drain the tanks and replace with fresh fuel. Then, when you go back to the dyno have a 30 psi gauge installed on the intercooler and report back the reading under load.....should be 17 to 18 psi under load on a 70 degree F day.

yes im getting lots of smoke. do you mean is it spinning fast enough to get the boost??? i dont know.. i do know that they had to reweld the elbow that comes right after the turbo because of a hole the size of your finger. could that be anything related to the problem?? not likely im sure.. on the way home from the dealer the elbow cam apart so i turned around and took it back.. no wating for a good used elbow.. whats a new one cost??

I would say 4 year old fuel would be part or all the problem. What about fuel filters? Make sure the shut off cable is pulling the lever all the way back and staying there. MACK

My guess with lots os smoke and low power, bad turbo, also as simply as this might sound, check the torque on the bolts holding the "intake manifold", on my 7060 the bolts will back out a sniff and then allows some boost loss.

just thinking that the elbow wouldnt cause that much lost because its after the turbo not before

I had 3 yr old fuel in the D-21 ( didn't use it much) it dropped 35 horse, new fuel, fuel filter's and it got it's 35 horse back and it did blow black smoke

Dont put 4 year old fuel through your tractor! Try fresh fuel and put some diesel treatment in, itll be alright.

Check for any (bird, mouse, cat, bee, etc.)restrictions in the entire intake system. Too much restrictions can cause overfueling and black smoke.

Besides turbo intake restrictions, check the pressure side-----make sure there are no leaks.
My SWAG is that the turbo bearings have rusted or crudded up from sitting for 4 years and the turbo isn't coming up to speed----------or the turbo is just plain worn. |

I would also double check that you have boost if any, if the dries out scaled carbon from the inside of the exhaust manifold all tried to come out at once, your turbo hot section is probably partially plugged and the compressor wheel isn't spinning. I see this often on tractors that sit a while
