question concerning adjusting front tie rod. I am installing a new tie rod as the old was un adjustable from lack of using never sieze material. Anyhow how much toe in? If I measure center of center rib halfway up the back to center of other rib, and same in front should front be half inch, 3/4, or what narrower than rear? Thanks y'all. I see new tires in the future when I rubbed her belly lol! Dana

I would suggest 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch toe-in of the front tires. Don't need much more then that, it will just wear out tires faster. So, yes you are right, that is narrower on the front of tires measured across from center to center.

Thanks David I agree. I measured the 19, ca, 15 and 170 and the most toe in I saw was a half inch. My oversized front tires on the XT vary somewhat but I got it real close to 1/4 in. Thanks, Dana

The perfect toe in is when rolling forward the tires run perfectly parallel. The amount of toe in while static allows for spring in the spindles, steering arms, and tie rods including the tie rod ends forced by the rolling friction of the tires.

Dana, if you don't get the toe just right and it tracks one way or another you can always add a trim tab to the steering wheel.......my 2 cents.....

Mike I am now hooking up a manual trim wheel in case my new thumb electric trim button fails, and of course an emergency trim switch in case the other 2 go bad. Of course the emer trim uses the autopilot pitch servo don't ya know. LOL! Actually tierods on and painted as is the new umbrella mount. Skin cancer doesn't stand a chance now. I am in need [seriously] of a new fender radio. Which is the best and where to buy? Jensen? AM FM don't really care about ipod hookup although I have that plumbed into the jet's intercom. [yes, really]
