Other day had a small chip or crack form in center bottom of windshield while driving - by the time I got to destination it became a crack about 1" along bottom on drivers side about 1/2 way across . Next day it took off the other direction across passenger side again about 1" from bottom .
Yesterday when I went to eye doc that right side crack made a U turn and started back to center . Then as it was dark out just as I turned into drive to house I heard a ting noise - but didn't see where the thing cracked this time - and light snow on windshield now so unseen where it went . Was figuring i would wait to have it replaced until spring but looks like that's a No Go Jeep Cherokee with built in wiper defroster which is suppose to keep wipers from icing up when parked . |

Wonder if the wipe blade heater is causing enough temperature differential to cause the cracking. Once a crack starts running it can go all over the place. I didn't even know they had wiper defrosters.

My Subaru had those built into the front window. They are like the rear window heaters but only down low on the front. There is like a mat area. I sure miss those. Gave the car to my son. I never had any problems with them causing a problem. Did get a crack once and had to have the window replaced, but it wasn't from the heater.
