Last month I ran across an 8050 for sale dealer said it had been sitting outside for 10 plus years owners said ran when parked. Dealer said they tried to start it, fired quit and nothing more. Shift plate extreme wear on 1-6 side plus shortened shifter? Said 5000 hours that looked right. I gave it a pass at 10,000. This month 8050 repo auction advertised as doesn't run or move, winched on trailer, no front drive shaft, lots of hours unknown, good firestone rubber 18.4x42, broken door glass and more unknowns. Sold for 7,950 plus 10% buyers fee and 3% something else. Both fwa. I might have been more interested if I didn't already have one in the barn waiting revival.

That tractor did run and drive. I talked to the auctioneer the day before the auction.I was fairly rough but had good tires, 4 sets of inner weights and pretty good hood. Plus was an 85 so it had the faster slow range, but was missing the drive shaft. That's probably 2k alone. I figured 4,000 would buy it plus hauling. I was wrong. Good thing I didn't get it cause a local one might be for sale that has what I'm looking for. Plus you need to figure salvage value of the fwa. |

I guess on any tractor that age your taking a risk. I took a risk fifteen years ago on an 8050 fwa but owner was upfront said it had a spun bearing at 5400 hr. I gave 7500 delivered, best tractor buy I ever made. Now at 7000 plus hrs it's my favorite tractor to operate.
