I was looking at a Frankenstein B today (assembled from many dead B tractors). It had a driver's side belt pulley pto, but no opening/mount on passenger side to accept a hydraulic pump.

What year B's had pto w/o hydraulic pump mount?

Personally i have never seen a "B" without a least a cover plate where the pump mounts.... But you have to remember a "B" was originally designed to replace a horse and the GOAL was to PULL an implement... not much lift needed.

The EARLIEST "B" i have is a 1941.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

My 38 does not have one but my 1940 has a pump on it, now could it have been added later? Yes, entirely possible as most of these have changed hands several times since new.

The answer is that as things improve, they change, so the early b's may have no provision for the pump, but as design is fluid and changing, later tractors will have the pump mount and the PTO.  Look at the serial number, in front of the shifter, look it up, and trace the number to find the year.Wink

Of course the original B tractors did not have the hydraulic pump.  However, they did have provisions for a PTO.  The original PTO's did not repeat did not have the configuration to add a hydraulic pump.  You may have seen some very old PTO's that did not have the side opening for a hydraulic pump.
That said, any B tractor could have a hydraulic pump added.  You would just get an up to date PTO configured with the hydraulic pump plate and add the hydraulics.
Therefore, any B tractor could have a hydraulic pump added.  Remember, the PTO and the hydraulic pump was an add on.
In fact when we sold them there were very few B's that did not have a hydraulic pump.
Good Luck!
