That is -for lack of a better term - a B-C Industrial mower.  It is a special mower made for the B-C that will mow vertically.  It was made for use in municipalities roadside mowing - that was the purpose of allowing the unit to run vertically.
It had a special pitman and lift arrangement which is the reason for the special blade attachment casting, pitman connection, and the cable attachment with the special hydraulic lift.
We sold a few of these.  In fact Pop sent me to my Grandfather's to mow his fields with a C and an industrial mower.  Lot of fun for me.  As am agricultural dealer we could not "legally" sell these.  We had an arrangement with a nearby Allis Chalmers Industrial Dealer so we could get them.  We could get parts - in fact most of the parts matched the B-C mower.
You are lucky.  These units are somewhat rare.  Good sickle bar mowers.
Hope this is some help.
Good Luck!
