Thank you Kevin, hopefully I will paint it this winter. I have a 460 loader for it that I plan to use for light use. Bought a new Quick Attach for it to use pallet forks, bucket. Just having the time to do it is the problem. I have a D17 diesel project in front of it so I will see how it goes. Hopefully I can knock them both out before spring time. In the meantime, the 160 is ready for winter feeding. I just want a fresh coat of paint on her and the loader with new decals.

I walked by it in the shed and patted it on the hood and smiled at all the good times and memories. Dad owned it 21 years. I have owned it 33 years. Till the grave!!

Folks,
Moved snow with the new to me D14. Getting used to the D series for some more serious work. I really like the front blade to move snow. Pushing up and over a plie! I also like the power director to move a little faster sometimes too. This tractor gives my Jubilee with the back blade a rest also. The D14 has loaded rear tires and a really good set of chains, that I bought with it, at a local auction last spring! Thbis was the plan for this unit and over the last few days it has worked well! We have about 20-24 inches. Regards, Chris

Chris, you can keep all that snow! We had about an inch but it's pretty much gone now. Supposed to be in the 40's for the next week or more here. Hopefully the ground will soften back up and we can work in another plow-day or two.

I, (very reluctantly) till-coated the model 73 plow. There still may be hope for another plow-day. Nice thing about till-coat, it comes right off!

Thanksgiving Day last I had taken the 170 out for a spin after getting the corn out
This year my day was spent trying to keep the M3 operating. All the chains are more worn than I had thought and out range for further adjustment. |

Had both CA's out today. Mowed the asparagus patches with No.1, moved No.2 to a different shed so I can work on it this winter. Loaded the NF 45 and 63 plow on the trailer to go plowing tomorrow! Pictures to follow.

Dave you must have a series 4 or how did you run that back hoe on high pressure, low volume AC hydraulics? Thanks Mike |

No, it's a Series 1. When I got that backhoe attachment, it was set up per factory to mount to a some Ford compact utility that had modern high-vol/low pressure live hydraulics. I modified the chassis frame to allow it to be picked up and self-mounted to the D17, added a hydraulic reservoir to the backhoe frame, and plumbed in a PTO pump. I back up over the unit, connect my tractor's (homemade) 3-point lift arms, pick the unit up, pin it to the frame, slip the hydraulic pump onto the PTO shaft, clip the chain to the side of the unit, and go to work!

Factory 3 pt. Our father made the platform over 40 years ago to feed square bales of hay to feed our cattle and also for other chores like fence building or repairs. When I retired this year one of my first projects was to replace the well used lumber and paint the frame. Took some white oak saw mill lumber and planned it to 3/4” thick. Stained it and then clear coated it. Hopefully it’s good for another 40 years.

Nice. I have a fast hitch one for my 560D but I'd like a Snap coupler version for the WD.

Took the 170 out for a joy ride. Was having trouble with the for some time even with jumper cables. Battery is 2yrs old and it passed a load test but not so good when cranking the starter. I had even by passed the starting solenoid and still cranked very slow. Took the starter apart, the brushes looked decent so I merely sprayed down the interior with electrical cleaner and shined up the commutator(?). Works much better now. Still seems a little sluggish but definitely better. Next up is an alternator going over and the ammeter doesn't appear to be working
