I recently change the oil and filter on my WC and WF and both had good oil pressure before I changed the oil filter. I used a napa 7011 oil filter. Are the napa filters junk? what oil filter is everyone else using? Thanks Zach

Is the NAPA filter pleated paper? The only filters that work on these tractors are filled with cotton fibers. The loss of oil pressure when they went to the plated filters a few years ago cost engines. Many like the Fram filter and Steve (NJ) stocks them in bulk.

Napa scrapped those incorrect pleated bypass filters not long after they came out, they have been correct for quite a few years. The nature of these filters just being stuffed with fibers there's not much difference between any of the brands.

Someone on here ended up with an OLD NAPA (WIX) filter, just a couple months ago... Should have been SCRAPPED several YEARS ago.......... You cant go wrong with FRAM C159 or the Baldwin filter.......... NAPA and WIX.. could be a crap shoot.

I have used 240912 for years with no problem. Don't use the 240912 with a V at the end of part number. A lot lower quality materials used.

The filter has the cotton fibers in it and looks just like the one in the picture. I put the old filter back on and it has good oil pressure now so its not the oil so it has to be the filter.

The Napa filter is a Wix filter. My B had one on it when I got it, the number was 7011. I got one from CARQUEST for the D10 and the number was 7011. I got another one from O'Reilly's and it said Wix on it but the number was still 7011. I think Wix sells to all of them, they just put a different name on the filter. All my co-workers talk badly about Fram filters, but they're talking about auto filters. To me the Fram c159 and the Wix 7011 look the same if you look at the bottom.

The C159 is the correct number. We've been a Fram dealer for 49 years. Never had a problem with any filter. Car, Truck, Tractor, whatever. Wix makes filter for quite a few companies per the companies specs. Napa, Cat, some Purolator, as well as other brands. Check the center pipe that runs up the oil filter and makes sure its not starting to rot out. I've heard of many cases where the pipe came out with the filter and got thrown away without realizing it was missing. Screw the new oil filter on and no oil pressure at all! We have the new pipes in stock if ya need one. If its solid and looks good, your good ta' go! We keep the C159's in stock all the time. You should be able to find em' locally though...

Steve is right, if it looks like its supposed to look then use it, I have that filter on the shelf from AGCO, Fleetguard and Fram and the only difference is the paintwork and box, all were made on the same the production line. I have been told that Wix and NAPA are also the same filter now but there is always the chance you receive one of the bad ones from old stock.

It takes a while for the filter to get saturated with oil, after that the pressure should come up. Maybe 5 minutes of run time. The engine itself should still get oil, it would be the gauge that gets the oil last.

I use Fleetguard LF571 filters with good success! if you set them side by side with the agco, napa there isn't any physical difference. and they are a fraction of the price of agco

For what it's worth the local farm stores around here have the Fram C 159 filters on the shelf for about 18 or 19 dollars. We stopped in at Mills Fleet Farm in Anchony IA. last summer on a road trip. Got curious and went looking for the filter. I thought 18 dollars was too much for a cheap guy like me. Mills Fleet Farm had them for about nine dollars. I got the lat one off the shelf and went home pretty pleased with myself. I told the guy working there he should keep them in stock because we want them and it was a good price. Just my small bit of wisdom for the day.
Good luck, Brad |

We carry the Fram, Hastings and Baldwin. I still have the occasional customer call with the bad wix filter, and as Steve mentioned, the missing tube.

Thanks everyone for all the info on the filters. I am going to put some oil in the filter and let it soak the cotton fiber then put it on the tractor and see if it shows oil pressure on the gauge.
