Noticed several black spots on the hood today, wondering what it could be or what an easy fix for this is? It's on the WD45, Has a D17 kit if that means anything to the problem

Probably just some condensation inside the exhaust, then blows out when you run it?

sorry a d17 226 and a wd45 226 both had the same bore size and stroke thus the 226 cubic inches. d17 got a compression ratio increase.

The easy fix might not be to economical. Build a heated garage and keep her in there. That still might not cure it completely. Maybe somebody builds an air dryer you could put on the intake. LOL
I believe the only difference in the 45 and 17,as far as pistons, would be a slight increase in compression( probably wrist pin location from top of piston) and maybe a little heavier governor spring.

Gave it a power increase to I believe. Deffinatly gave it more compression, If you need to hand crank it, you better fire it right away lol.

if any moisture gathers in the muffler, it comes out and makes a mess.

I find that having the rain cap turned to the side so it kind of directs the exhaust to the left minimizes the water/soot from the exhaust getting on the hood.

Another post refers to a B tractor not getting warm... Could this scenario lead to the moisture in the exhaust because the muffler wasnt warm enough? OR, does the moisture in the exhaust happen after the tractor is shut off? Would a cold runner be more likely to be a soot spitter?

Scott, Sounds like a bad problem, you better sell it to me before it cost you a lot of MONEY, LOL
My D15 puts back stuff on the hood too, just a winter thing I believe, just watch your water level, maybe head gasket weeping a little with higher comp.
