Is it normal for it to -edited- near go to zero when its hot and you back down to idle.  I just got this engine in the tractor to replace the one I blew.  The old one did almost the same thing,  Just making sure I dont grenade this one too if it is a problem in my head or something because I used my head on the good block.

  Hello Roddo    The oil pressure at the guage is controled by the resistance in the packing in the oil filter and then dumped into the block.   There were ful flow filters out a few years back, couldn't carry any oil pressure.  I assume there is a tube in the base of filter with a small hole in the end.  there isn't much pressure to begin with,  allis guage, NOR   is normal

Normal or right NO!!  Does it happen, yes, .  Try not to let idle to low (slow)  when hot. I've had most of my do this and it must be the filters, as time goes on filters fill with junk (dirt) and or I change over to new made filters it is a lot better the pressure at idle. Make sure your oil is full. Add oil treatment, like STP.
Ac D-19, a Number of WD's, One WD45, Two 444 balers, Ac plows and etc.

Actually, the more "plugged" up your filter is, the higher the oil pressure could be. If there is no resistance in the oil filter , the oil goes right to the sump without any pressure.
 A guy might want to check the oil pressure bypass spring to make sure it's not broken or the bypass isn't stuck open with crud. First make sure the filter riser tube is in place and you have the proper "packed" filter and not one of the pleated paper ones.
