I have a WD45 set up to pull a Woods rotary chopper. I am having a problem with the vert position floating up or down as I mow. The level of the woods cutter does not stay in the place I set the lever. It seems there is a very narrow position in the middle of the quadrant lever where the levers don't move. But they will creep up or down over time. What adjustments might I need to make to the lower right hydro regulator on top of the pump. There is a screw on the end and them there looks to be a wheel lock device on the rear. That rear device is not unlocked. Thank you

A quick & dirty remedy if you don't want to fight the hydraulic system. Get some (they go by different names) stroke limiters, depth stop collars that just snap over the cylinder rod. They come in various thicknesses. You can't obviously adjust on the fly, but you can raise the mower normally. I wouldn't have even known about them but my 45 with a Woods mower had them from previous owner.

I don't think you will ever to get the arms on a WD45 to stay put in a selected position. At least I never could.

If the hydraulic pump and hold valve are in good condition AND ADJUSTED CORRECTLY, they will hold a load just fine. Pump must be set for "HOLD" position configuration. The hand lever should "click" (detent) somewhere near the center of the quadrant. If it does this and the pump still continues to raise (even slowly raise) the linkage is out of adjustment. In the hold position, the pump should be shut off and oil is trapped in the right lift ram so it cannot lower..

I had some lifting issues with my WD-45 when I swapped the pump out for a newer one with good linkages. I had to readjust the linkage for the quadrant control and I can hold a load all day long wherever I set it.
Also, if you’re lifting and holding heavy loads, make sure you switch your left lift hose to the other hold side on the valve. This will equalize the hold on the cylinders. My Oxnard blade book states this and it’s how I have mine since I don’t have the rear remote and I don’t need Delayed Lift functionality. Brandon Edited by BMinor0788 - 17 Aug 2022 at 8:30pm |

Is this pull type with hydraulic cylinder or mounted? Pull on draw bar cam make it lift or lower if linkage is miss adjusted or worn. MACK

What does the wheel lock do at the back of the hyro flow valve on top of the pump? Or the front screw on the flow valve?

Screw located on the hold valve that locks the plates together should have the plates locked together. Front screw on the hold valve should be screwed OUT. Lower screw on the traction booster linkage should be screwed in locking the lever so it cannot move. ALL of this is in your owners manual and on the decal on the side of the battery box.

What is the diameter of the rams in the lift arm of the WD45? ( I am not near the tractor at the moment) What are those limiter clamps actually called that you clamp on the arm to prevent the ram from fully lowering? Jim
