Does anyone know the non-AGCO part number for the front main seal for a WD45? The good thick seal with the felt on the front.
I buggered mine up installing and want to get another one local from NAPA or somewhere. Edited by Allis dave - 12 Jul 2016 at 8:00am |

Still only about $12 for the whole set as long as it's the think seal. I'll stop and get it ordered. Thanks

Dave,
Good that you decided to replace the damaged seal. Any improved installation techniques for the next one? Looking forward to some pictures of this build too! Regards, Chris |

When you get your new seal pack the back side of it full of grease (holds the spring in place) then I use shim stock rolled around the crankshaft to start it on the shaft and just past the pulley set-screw hole in shaft then remove the shim stock before installing the seal in cover, use a 6" long 1 1/2" PVC to tap the seal in cover. Did one Monday like I said above and have not bent one yet this way.

Thanks Don, That's a good idea. Never thought about packing the seal full of grease to keep the spring in place.
From talking to Fred, I used the wrong seal. I used the WD seal with the outer felt and it's to small to fit the WD45 shaft. This gasket kit only came with this small seal and one that has the OD too big. I dig out my old leftover Victor Renz kit and it still have 2 seals left. The big and small one. with the correct seal missing (already used). Fred's sending me the correct seal. |
