Hey guys. We recently picked up 2 45 diesel engines one complete and one parts. The parts engine was overheated at some point and is missing the oil pan and flywheel but has the complete fuel system on it . So i know my 1st step is taking the fuel pump off and having it professionally gone through incase the shaft is stuck. I haven't tried turning the engine over yet because of this. But I'm told it was a free strong running engine 20 years ago. What I'm wondering, is there anything special I should know about this engine any quarks they don't talk about in the manual, any power/ knowledge you guys could give me would be a huge help. Also I'm going to have the 2nd pump rebuilt and looking to use it as a bargaining chip on a factory power steering pump for a diesel which I'm sure is a very tall order but it's worth a try i hope.

Make sure you have a buildable block before you spend any money.

I have a good water pump and a set of oversize pistons and sleeves complete, with less than 500 hours on them and a crank that needs turned and good cam shaft. Just to let you know.
