I bought a WD45 diesel today, looks good, I know it's the wrong shade of orange.
It runs terrible, timing is late with lots of unburnt white
smoke, and the governor doesn't work at all.
Whats up with the Bosch pump on this thing?
If it was a Roosa DB2 I'd have it rebuilt already but I know nothing about the Bosch pumps.

The throttle has to be wide open just to get it started, it revs up way more than it should and when you close the throttle, it takes about 8 seconds for the rpm's to come back down, then it dies.

No diesel knock at all, it just sounds weird.

Any help would be appreciated.

I realized I'm missing the throttle stop on the lever for my diesel.
Anyone have one they want to sell?

Does that mess with how the governor functions?
Just curious.

Matt, get you an IT manual for the WD45 Diesel.  It covers how to time the pump the best of any I've seen.  I've done several, so if you want to discuss, give me a call sometime. I'd be glad to help.  Michael 816 898 7277.

Is this correct?
Still can't get it to fire, it's definitely getting fuel.

the mark in the pump is only for assembling it, not installing it on the engine. That mark is a pointer on the pump drive hub, seems there's a pipe plug to take out to see it. These can really be a pain to get people to understand.

Matt, you’re not even close. Whoever timed it did not have the directions. Michael

Got it running, timing was way late.
This thing sounds similar to the 301 in my F.

The guy that owned it before me used alot of ether to get it started, all the rods are probably bent, it smokes quite a bit yet and misses.

On my Oliver, the marked tooth ends up about one tooth to the right of the mark. The disc with the actual mark on my pump input shaft was loose and I ended up flow timing it.
