WD Tune up

Since I was a kid, a "tune up" always included points, spark plugs and condensor. 

Points do wear out with time, but a lot of points are routinely replaced because we are doing a tune up. With all the imported parts on the market now, I would carefully inspect the points and maybe take a folded dollar bill to clean the contacts, unless you see a reason they need to be replaced.

If there is no apparent problem with the condensor, I, personally, would leave it alone. If there is a reason to replace it, good luck. I went through 3 consensors on one tractor in one summer. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the quality of the new condensors just doesn't seem to be very good.

Spark plugs are like car brands; everyone has their personal preference. I seem to have the best luck with NGK, but others will say they find other brands better, except Champion. I don't know very many that will recommend Champion plugs for an AC tractor.

I think spark plug wires are probably the most overlooked thing on a tractor. I remember when I was a kid, a guy slid off the road near Dad's during dark hours. He walked to the house and Dad took the WD45 to pull him out. The tractor almost never ran during dark hours. When he started the tractor, there were sparks everywhere from the deteriorated plug wires. After installing a new set of wires, the tractor ran much better.

You didn't say if your WD was magneto or distributer. If it is distributer, I would think seriously about changing it to electronic ignition. With the poor quality replacement points and condensors on the market today, it's a good option. I have one tractor I changed over (Dad's WD45) and I have never regretted it.
