I hadn't had the WD started in over a year. So, charged the battery, put in some fresh gas a little antifreeze and it started right off. Success! However, I noticed that it turns over "slow". Even with a fresh battery off the charger. Is this a sign the starter needs to be replaced? Or at least sent in and redone? Just doesn't seem quite right that it turns over so slow even for a 6 volt. Thanks in advance.

What kind of shape are your battery cables in? I hope you didn't go to an auto store and buy a cheap set of 12 volt cables sometime in the past. It won't hurt if you would remove the cables and clean under all the connections with a wire brush.

6 volt systems need the battery posts and connectors cleaned twice a year because of corrosion from battery fumes. Timing stuck advanced will slow the world's best starter.

Well Doug S: I checked my records and it seems I went to Farm and Fleet 6 or 7 years ago and did buy a cheap set of 12 volt cables. So based on your comment I went and purchased a new set from DJS. Installed them today and what a difference!! This problem is all solved now. Thanks so much for your assistance!!

The fatter the cables, the better. I don't know how available nice fat cables are on the retail market. Others feel free to chime in. If not readily available at retail they may be available at an OTR truck repair shop. Fabricating cables from welding cable works too. I'm glad you got it going. 6 volt systems are a little more picky.
