I have a pile af parts that was once a side mount Sicle Bar Mower for a WD. Was there a model # for them? Did they have a S/N plate or stamp? I guise i will print out a parts break down and see if i have enough parts to make it work sometime.

You know, I do not think they made a side mounted sickle bar mower for the WD. After the WD run was completed they did make the 80S mower and I think they could mount that on a WD. Check to see if you have a pitman rod. the 80 model mowers did not have a pitman rod. They used a Twin Wheel connection.
If you have a picture it could help. Good Luck! Bill Long

Jeff's picture shows an 82S which is a big step ahead of the previous model 80S.
The 82S has a realtively simple mounting system and can readily be mounted on the WD, WD-45 and the D series from D-10 to the D-19 with the appropriate attaching parts.
The 80S can be used with all the above tractors (with the correct mounting parts) as well, but has a more complicated frame, lift and mounting system.
The 82S replaced the 80S and has many other improvements besides the simpler frame and attaching system. The bar is made of thicker material as is the inner shoe and "box" to which the twin wheel gear box is attached, the cutbar pivots on ball bearings rather than "steel on steel".
Probably, most importantly, the lift is activated by a dedicated hydraulic cylinder which, when set up right, will allow the bar to lift to the full upright position from the tractor seat. According to Norm Swinford's book, the 80 series began production in '59 and continued the Twin-Wheel design that was first introduced on the #7 mowers in '56.

After I sent that message, I went back and read Dave's comment "Bill, I have a Pitman".
So, I posted a lot of info that doesn't apply to your situation.
Bill Long, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only pitman side mounted mower that might have been used on the WD would be the #2 which was originally designed for the WC?
I don't think the #3 was built as a side mount and the #5 side mount was designed for the CA and used on the B and C as well?

Brian I have to say that the only pitman rod side mounted mowers that would fit a Would be the WC mower. What is the number I do not know. However, there is a side mounted mower on a WC showing on the first page of this post. I would look there and see if there is any similarity to the parts you now have. Could it fit. Frame is basically the same and the PTO is in basically the same position, however, the rear hitch arrangement is quite different from the WC.
Good Luck! Bill Long ps: Pictures could help |

Ok guys, I found out that the sickle bar mower was never on the WD that it came with.
It looks like the Mower on the WC in the other post.
