Does anyone have a shock absorber for under the seat of my WD? It is a 1950, so it's the earlier style. Mine is completely rusted through, and I'm afraid of ending up on the ground while moving snow! Don't really want to spend $100 on a new one.

Take it to a good parts store and match it to a suspension part. If its 9" long and has loops on the end, look at fronts for 70s era Chevys. Good shock books have a section by dimensions and ends. Some of the venders who frequent this forum have such shocks in stock.

Thanks Gerald. Local NAPA has some oldtimers that can still find things without it being listed by vehicle in the computer. That's my next step.... when I get the rusted one off.

I know the NAPA printed book has a section at the back by dimensions and mounting. Looking at pictures in an AC book I suspect its that Chevy front. Ask for a 72 Chevy 1500 pickup front shock if they can't find it by size.

Go to advance auto and get a Monroe 5752. The two piece rubber bushings are in HELP! set 31001. Don't let them cross the monroe part number to a gabriel shock, it won't work. Been there, done that. This info was good two years ago when I was putting my bench seat on my WD.

Adam, that sounds like the way to go! What is the deal with the bushings? Is that a seperate part number?
