    Posted: 07 Jan 2017 at 8:09pm

My hydraulics always seemed to have a mind of their own. At first I was adjusting the flow regulator so that the hydraulics would adjust only slightly, but doing this was a real pain. Then I noticed the hydraulics control lever at the steering wheel was moving up on its own. Curious if anyone knows the fix for this? Currently I’m using an orange spring clamp which is perfect for now (no more dismounting and adjusting the flow regulator and control lever then hopping back on).

Replaced blocks and springs on mine last week. Along with a new steering wheel, steering shaft, renewed throttle quadrant and lower steering support. Also had both control rods built up and turned down.

John,
I agree replacing worn friction blocks and the springs can help assuming they are worn and or weak? Don OK I have never seen one of the clamps you show? And I don't remember one in the tool boxes on Dad's 45's!:) Picture on the tractor? I assume this is a stop for the quadrant handle???
 Regards,
 Chris

I have never seen one of those either.
I have not happened to see reference to it in the operator's manual either.
It is called" STOP ASS'Y., adjusting, hyd. pump lever".
It is shown on page 266 of my parts manual under "Tools and Miscellaneous".
It is also shown on page 276 attached to the quadrant under the heading "Hydraulic Pump Hand Control".
In that illustration, it is clamped on the quadrant below the lever which would indicate to me it is designed to limit how far the lever can be lowered rather than to hold the lever down.
Nevertheless, it sure looks like it could be used for holding the lever down as well.

Quick question, according to the diagram in the owners manual, it would almost appear there should be a second spring somewhere at the bottom between the end of the lever shaft and the lever shaft arm. is this the case or just one spring up by the quadrant?

The part diagram shows the order it goes together spring goes on bottom because that's where it's put on shaft to slide it up towards quadrant with the retainer and pin

Don, finding those is like finding hens teeth! I've scavenged a4 or 5 over the years and it's always fun when you do find one, but hard to do!
