I’ve read some old posts about mounting a hydraulic pump on the crank pulley or using a double-groove to run a belt pulley. Does anyone know of a resource for a kit or any guidance on doing this?

I have a WD45 with a model 400 or 500 loader. Don't remember. It has the factory loader pump kit installed. It mounts under the radiator and drives off the front of the crankshaft. You can see a picture of the set up in the AGCo online parts book. Look under agcoallis, material handling, A-C farm loaders. It should have been factory on all WD/WD45's. Works good.

I believe Alex from A&W makes a kit to do this. Includes a new pump, drive hub, mounting bracket and a drive disc that you must weld into the front of the crankshaft pulley. For gas engines only.

The WD, WD-45 hydraulics/they are hi pressure, are considered live using the hand clutch. We had a Stan Hoist, on our '53 WD, it worked well, I loaded a lot of manure with it.

No. You cannot use any D-series front pump drives. It has to be the welded in drive disc and mounting bracket and a pump and drive hub all specfic to a WC/WD/WD45. There is just enough room. Kinda like 5 gallons of poo in a 4 1/2 gallon pail.

My 460 loader for my 160 is driven off the crank pulley like in the above picture. Loader is self contained and doesn’t use any hydraulics off the tractor.

I put a live pump setup on a WD I owned years ago. If I remember correctly, I purchased the weld in drive plate and the drive lug from Agco and used either a used combine hydraulic pump or a pump from a hydraulic supply house. One thing I do remember for sure, is that I had to swap out the front bolster casting, as they way it was made did not allow enough room for the hydraulic pump. I know I found a used bolster that was not cast back towards the engine as far and it had a lot more open area in front of the crankshaft pulley.

No where in the WC/WD/WD45 front pump installation instructions does is tell you there might be a chance that the front steering support might have to be swapped out for a different one. The reason you had to was because you weren't using the correct pump.

You are more than likely correct, I just threw it out there in case someone runs into clearance issues. If I remember correctly, the very top of the casting had a lip on it that extended back to the bottom of the radiator/grill area and was all hollow underneath it. Prior to this I did not even realize that there were different bolster casting used.
