My 53 wd only goes to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Ive tryed adjusting the linkage between the hand lever and governer, but no results. The PO tied a piece of bailing twine to the governer lever that goes to the carb. The governer works fine when you add a load to it, but still doesent get past 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Should I shorten the rod between the carb and governer? I have a tractor pull this weekend and have a rebuild kit for the carb. Could it be a carb problem?

After going through the IT manual, Im going to pull apart the governer assemboly. I suspect the problem is in the governer housing. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

IS this while just sitting?  If so, that is corect, it should only go about 1/2.  When under a load, the governer will push the throttle to wide open to keep the rpms in range.

Put a 170 governor spring in it.that will pep it up.

I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

Does the throttle lever go to full throttle if it doesnt its the rod going up to the bell crank that pulls the horizontal rod going to the gov.
