On my son's d-10 rebuild I just disassembled the head. Valve springs must have been weak cause I found a washer under each spring. Also had valve seals on the guides & the shop manual doesn't show them. I've hand lapped valves before but never replaced valve guides. The manual says you can drive them out with a heavy hammerShocked . Anyone done this?? I appreciate any advice, thanks keith so. va.

Using a valve guide removal/installer tool you can remove them with a 3 lb hammer, but to install you need a small hydraulic press to install them with the same tool.

use a air hammer to remove them  press in the new ones may need to use a reamer if you bugger the top side putting them in

Many machine shops will automatically install valve guide seals, just because they do on all the automotive heads. These older Allis engine don't really like valve stem seals and often valves will get sticky if you use them. Early on Allis had what was call a Splash shield  between the springs and rocker arms.
I will sometimes use them on the intake valves only if the guides have worn a little as a quick fix.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY
