Uncle gave us a bunch of AGCO filters (mostly for 7040/7060) that he had no use for anymore. They have been sitting in his unheated barn for awhile. Would you use these? Some have a little surface rust around the o ring and the threads. Others are still in plastic. Are they safe to use? Some are engine oil and most are hydraulic. Hydraulic are still in plastic.

If there's rust, pitch them. Rust flakes can make a mess out of things. if the package is sealed and are rust free use them

I would probably only use wrapped filters regardless of rust if they're that old, the paper pleats can start breaking down especially if there was a lot of moisture in the barn. If they're still sealed should be preserved pretty well.
