Here is what it looks like.   A mig welder would have done a nicer job but the little one i have wouldn't have penetrated like the old stick welder I have.   A flap wheel on a grinder and some new paint cleans it up pretty good.

Update on this possible resurrection of the 8070.  I blocked out a few hours this afternoon to see if I could get the 8070 to come to life and also look it over far more closely.  The front yoke is very tight on this tractor and has no play or wobble.  So that's a good thing.  While I don't know that I believe the 3300 hours on the hour meter,  a lot of indicators point to this being a lower hour tractor.  No wear on the steering wheel,  and the shift levers aren't grooved from the shift pattern plate to name a few.

After checking all the fluids and installing a fresh battery, a very, very small shot of ether and the 426 barked to life like it was parked yesterday.  Oil pressure was very good and the engine sounded very smooth.  The power shift shifted as expected.  The only thing I noticed is when I pushed the clutch to stop,  the trans brake came on before the clutch disengaged.  I didn't depress the pedal far enough to get to the trans brake,  this I'm sure of.  Any idea what would cause that?  Is this just from sitting so long or is there some linkage out of adjustment?  Some problem with the inching valve?  Any input would be much appreciated.

I would guess the clutch cable or inching valve needs an adjustment.   There is a procedure in the ac service manual that outlines this procedure. We did one about a year ago but don't remember what was all involved anymore.

Wear on the draw bar/ 3pt balls is a good indicator as well. Never dealt with PS so no idea but was it warmed up fair whe tranny seemed wrong? Reason being, my PD doesn't behave well at first start up. After some run time it's just like its supposed to be.

I spoke to the owner and he told me that he replaced the clutch cable.  So I'm gonna go head and guess that he didn't adjust it correctly.  We have an 8010 with the Power Shift,  in cold weather,  they don't behave well until the oil has warmed up a little.  But that's to be expected something that hydraulically controlled like that.

The drawbar and the balls of the 3 point look new.  I'm thinking this might be a really good find.  Something has to be wrong!  I don't get lucky like this.

Here's to hoping!  Looking forward to brining it back to it's former glory and running it along side our other ACs.  It'll be a good tractor for our operation.  Just have to get the price figured out with the owner at this point!
