Mark,
I have an MAB series drive assy that's supposed to be for a 4046 Starter motor. Its the older Bendix (which it may have) but in order to make sure this is correct, here's the specs on the drive assy.
Mainshaft is 16mm.  Drive gear is 36mm. O.L. on mainshaft is 136mm. I need to know how many teeth are on the drive gear that Chris has. If the specs match we have a winner!
