NOT 1/8th or 1/4 NPT.   Somewhere  in  between . Need 2  to be able to keep my Brush Hog Drive Shaft U joints Greased.  Replaced yoke using same old cross and cups. Old yoke was not for a 1 3/8" 6 spline gearbox output shaft. Noted the grease fittings were both missing. TSC had what I needed. Broke the Bank to take the right yoke home.
I thought I had a good selection of Grease Fittings until nothing I have threads into these old crosses .     Is there such a thing as a 3/16 Grease Fitting?

the smaller one is a 1/4 inch bolt thread... the larger one is 1/8 inch pipe... never seen one in between.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

might be the "push in" type. found that on a new mower I have, one dropped out and the hole wasn't threaded, and the dealer told me they were the push/pound in type. I got some and ruined one when I pounded it in. found a really small metal tube and pounded on that after placing the zerk up inside it.

You got it Backwards Steve    The small zerks in my assortment are 1/8 NPT  the bigger are 1/4 NPT.   Went online and found 3/16 grease zerks .  All shapes , straight , 45 and 90s . Problem is 3/16 WHAT?

He might have mis read.  Size wise, 1/4" x28 tpi bolt thread are the smallest.  Check hole with a 7/32 drill bit.  If hole is bigger, use a 21/64 drill bit and check if that's it, then its a 1/8 pipe thread... Never heard of a 3/16 bolt or pipe thread.  Wink

They do make metric. You got it at TSC ?Wink Made in China cheap. No matter how much they charge.  Would be nice if information given and you check with drill bits it is USA thread. But if that is not looking right try metric.

oods are real good they are METRIC ! I've got some 7/8" bore pillowblocks here.....Zerks ARE metric....
I assume the default nowadays is Metric. then 'soft' conversion, then Imperial.
Soft means stuff that goes bothways....like  5/16<>8mm

3/16 zerk is smaller than the 1/4 inch bolt thread size... You drill a 3/16 hole and POUND it in.. not threads, just TEETH.

there are a variety of zerk threads.. the two most STANDARD are the 1/4 inch bolt thread and the 1/8 inch pipe... you can also find 1/4 inch pipe and other, but not that common.

a 1/4 inch BOLT thread is .250 inch diameter
-
an 1/8 inch pipe is .400 inch diameter

a 1/4 inch pipe is .540 inch diameter

a 12 mm ( metric) zerk is .470 inch diameter.  ( or about half way between the two pipes).
