Did Allis put turbocharged diesel engines in Model 185 Tractors?

The used tractor dealer from where I just bought my "1971" (so they say)
Allis 185 dropped it off in town.  I did test drive the tractor before, but just
a light short test.

I drove it five miles home.  I did not hear a turbo whine, except the exhaust note was a give away,  and the exhaust gas velocity was high.

I LOOKED REAL CLOSE  (why didn't I look that close at the dealer) and SURE ENOUGH
there is a turbo charger.  Tractor data and a couple of other places claim it was naturally aspirated.

So,  I got a rare one??? or aftermarket add on??

THANKS!

NO - AC  knew a turbo would rip that rear end right out ; maybe not right out , but they were afraid users would weight the tractor down , pull bigger implements and that would bust the rears out ; the 301 does love a turbo , you can easily make 150 hp !!

My neighbor turbo-ed his 185 back in the early 80's.... dynoed ~125.  A bit much I thought, but it was still going strong at his retirement sale a number of years later.

There are a lot of 185 tractors with added turbo chargers, there are videos on youtube, and some on tractorhouse.
