never seen an IVECO spreader truck around here, mosty GMC/Chevy/sterling/navistar ones. and none pull trailers, the companies use truck tenders. had one roll over near here yesterday, spilled all it's load, took turning around to fast in the field.

Problem with fertilizer trucks of any variety os corrosion
All metals dislike the aggressive actions of fertilizers, longevity is short where in the US the use of older trucks has been typical as they have already passed that point of disregard for age. |

Same here. We use an 85 C70 for chicken litter. The key to fighting rust and rot is keep it dry. Park it under a roof and don't haul wet litter. You can wash the cab but not the bed. The bed that's on our truck is about 10 or 12 years old and still looks fairly new. It's a 14ft Chandler. They make a damn fine bed.

Was inspecting a chicken layer operation once, and at the maintenance shed, mechanic was working on wheel bearings on a litter spreader truck. He said the litter was pretty light, but truck wouldn't make it a mile down the road before it had so many flies on it the weight was unbearable. He might have been kidding........or not. Top dressed hay ground earlier in the week, used a pull type buggy from the fert dealer. Between use, abuse and corrosion, those things get the crap kicked out of them. 2 of last 3 I have used have had mechanical breakdowns with me using them.

![]() Wheel bearings on these trucks take a pretty good beating because of the terrain they're used in. Just about every pasture and hay field I've been on here has terraces and rocks you can't see until you hit them and holes you can't see. Also you have to move at a pretty good clip to do it right so it makes the rocks and holes and terraces a bit more rough. And these trucks are pretty well worn out before they become spreader trucks |

when we worked at the pig confinment, the trucks that brought the new pigs in were the fanciest straight trucks that you could buy. hauling them pigs musta paid real well. as the truck owners said they don't last much more than 3 years tops. before each load the trucks have to be acid-ized top to bottom, inside and out, under them, everywhere. then they are junked/traded and new ones bought.

IVECO is a BIG truck manufacturer in Italy.. They make a lot of DIESEL engines also... Real popular in Europe , Australia and a few other places... not so much in the US.

Spammer aside, the problem with fertilizer trucks these days is you need an armored car to haul the $ to fill the fertilizer truck!
