Went to a local tractor pull with my Case 400 today (sorry for off color). Was hoping for a good day but what a bunch off cheaters there! I was in the 6000lb class, weighed in at 6150lbs. Everyone in that class was between 7000 and 7500lbs from what i could tell! so needless to say i was a little POed. the guy at the scale said we were there to have fun, I didn't! I'm thinking next year i am weighting my 400 down with about 1000lbs of extra iron then we will see who laughs! Sorry for the vent!

I've never heard of being able to weigh 1000 or more pounds over the class weight. Usually some may allow 5 or 10 pounds over but my tugger club was right on the money for weight. I hope the hook fee was small then you could have used it to fine tune your ballance and gear to pull in.

I pulled once just for the heck of it, supposed to be farm stock. I weighed 4050 with my fluid and the loader frame and was told I would have to pull in 5000. I f I would have had a couple wrenches with, I could have shucked the loader frame and pulled against a stock A John Deere. I had to pull against a Red tractor the guys said had an 806 crank. It also had about 4 inches of drawbar past the PTO shaft and I had mine set to standard length which is where farm stock was supposed to be. I spun out half way down the track and a guy I worked with gave me his trophy from the modified class. I know I could have whooped the A and it was the only tractor in the 4000 class.

If it was a 6000 lb. class and you weighed 6150, You were cheating also ? I don't understand how you can complain about them cheating when you were too.

We allow 100lbs and each tractor must pass over the scale JUST BEFORE they go onto the track to hook. Over weight by 101lbs or more for the class and you have until the end of the class to correct, if you cant correct DQ

I bet you were over weight for the 6000 class and they just put you in the 7500 class.
I have been over 10 pounds and they handed me a ticket for the next class. I just go back to the trailer and remove weight and weigh again and pick up a new ticket. If you want to win you can't be a sheep. Only one place would not re weigh me and I just loaded up got my money back and pulled out.

I quit pulling some years ago. The attitude with many of the pullers I was around was that if you don't get caught it's not cheating. They also got themselves on the member board and started tweeking the rules until there was very little difference between the Farm Stock class and the Classic class. It started out real fair and I could bring my bone stock 17 and be very competitive against other stock tractors but then soon the cheaters dropped from the classic class, where you only had to "appear" stock, down to the farm stock. It's the same old story. Years ago the Classic class was supposed to be the stock class and then you had the open class for the hopped up tractors but the words "stock appearing" got thrown into the rules at some point and wham that's it. Eventually someone will come up with a new stock class and that will last a few years until the cheaters ruin it again.

Our Club allows you a little extra weight. Like 10%  In 6000 they would give you up to 60 pounds. If you thought they would let you pull in 6000 at 6150 you are wrong. They would tell you to loose at least 90 pounds or pull in 6500. Our classes jump 500 lbs up to 7000. In your case you got bumped up to 7000 and ended up too light for the class.
Another local club does not allow a ounce over the class called.
I have some drawbar mods and wheel and wheel weight mods on my CA that won't let me pull farm stock if the inspecters catch it. I don't argue with them and pull in farm comp which allows some mods and the addition of suitcase weights.
I pull for the fun of it and try to do my cheating within the rules. I pull 3000 3500 and 4000 comp classes. 3000 stock if they let me. 12.4 24s. A Farmall wheels and weights and a C drawbar. Everything under the hood is bone stock Allis
