I have an 1958 AC HD-6E Crawler Tractor that needs new tracks. They tell me they are no longer available. Any suggestions of what I can do for tracks?

Way out ideas on track is to find something else close - then having sprocket changed to pitch of new track .
Should be some track shops somewhere that can help - OR someone who can source parts from old stock hidden here in the US . Unsure if China is making track in proper pitch but it seems dome of the guys from Down Under can find track - just not imported to the US by anyone .

According to Caterpillar, for 37 link HD6:
Fit 1V4599 36 link track assembly, no modifications required, and weld on 3K5841 sprocket rim. (converts to D4E-6.75" pitch, obviously requires D4 shoes as well.) May have to trim off tips of sprocket, due to contact with rear roller, I assume. I've had that problem before fitting "factory" parts on HD11s, as the sprocket runs inside the rear track roller. |

Lazyts, could you have moved the rear track roller ahead just enough by welding old holes shut and drilling new holes in the frame to accomadate the sprockets?

On the HD11 it was such a small amount that we just let it "wear in". It was probably due to using a different brand sprocket and roller- each manufacturer with different tolerances. Of course you also can't use a double flange roller on either the front or back of the truck frame for the same reasons.

that would be the other measurement the flange on the roller or the width of the front idler inner height .
On the HD5 all the lower rollers are flanged outside as is the top idler Now the HD4 i had used different top idler the FD5 uses a mixture of inner and outer guides on lower rollers .
