I need your input. XT runs and sounds better daily. I have always noticed a small pool of bubbly foam where the fuel pump meets the housing which it is bolted to, at about the 2 oclock position. I have wiped it clean several times but it always seems to be there. It can be seen in the image below. I assume engine pressure from leakage around rings coming out around where pump meets case and back when I was bleeding fuel I know fuel was splattered all over that place. Anything unusual? Thanks! Dana

I'd think with a decent gasket that there shouldn't be any leaking around the flange. There shouldn't be any real pressure inside the crank case either. If your crank case vent pipe is open and your still pushing enough air volumn to build any measureable pressure you'll be looking for a ring job soon. I'd install a manometer and measure the crank case pressure.
Yea, I can fix that.....

Yep
O-ring on pump facing or something. I can't recall as it's been awhile since I had a pump off but the same style Rossa Master is used on tons of stuff. Has to have something in it or it's open to the crank case and will certainly show an oil leak at some point.

Dana did you pull the vent tube off the valve cover and make sure that some thing didn't plug it up. I know you said that you XT had set for several years. I don't know about NY, but here in MO the mud dobbers will plug up any hole they can find.
