There is a D15 for sale advertised as a series II but it has a round muffler and the headlights are on the front of the hood. Is this a series I with series II hood decals? How can you tell if the engine is a 149ci or 160ci by looking at it? Not a deal breaker but should make a difference how much its worth. And no I'm not going to tell where it is !

A D-15 series II will have a serial # 13,000 or higher. A 160 cu.in. engine will have a serial 160-xxxx stamped on the block behind the air cleaner hose to the carb. Series II will have a dry air cleaner with the intake on the right side hood panel and the headlights on the taller fenders.

That sounds like a series I. Look for the tractor serial # on the bellhousing, series II tractors start at 13,001. Also, the engine serial # will begin with either 149 or 160.

Generaally speaking:Series 1: headlights on radiator cowl, round muffler, 149 CI engine.
Series 2: headlights on rear fenders, oval muffler, 160 CI engine. Good advice about checking S/Ns as sometimes there have been repairs made using parts from another tractor (ie, swapping engines, etc).

Thanks I kind of thought it was probably a series I with the wrong decals. Did the series I come with a 160 engine?
