Well as I noted in Had to Pass, I did manage to get hold of the seller and this week will get him his cash for the old HD7G pile of iron, next step is to get a hauler to pick it up and set it off on the old farm place to start digging into what ails it. Have contacted a hauler local to us, got a reasonable price from him but not sure as to when he can pick it up yet.
I may be nuts at my age for tearing into this big a project but hey, I gotta do sumpthin to stay busy!!! |

Look at tit this way will keep you off the streets and out of the bar , well at least until something comes up that drives you to drink. And by then it might have cost you enough you cant afford over a 1/2 glass of barley pop.

I'm assuming this is a typographical error...

I got it home. The turbo is not bad it is spinning up fine, air cleaner has not been out for awhile!! Steering issue, both brakes have to be on the floor to get any function, I will adjust first then see where it is. Runs, starts, drives good, has hydraulic leaks, has not been serviced in a long long long time so that will be one of the first processes. |

hi DMiller
that doesn,t look too bad at all. Apart from where some caveman who was steering it has somehow bent the top of the bucket ! ! People like that need to be put back on handshovel for awhile to learn to appreciate machinery. 4 in 1 bucket too; makes them twice the machine. Adjust your brakes up and hope your steering issues will be solved; change fluids clean screens and new filters will help too. keeps you occupied; remember better to wear out. than rust out ! !

Serial tag is long gone, got into service manuals and found location to stamped number spots, believe it will be from the 23xxx number up from air cleaner/throttle and brake linkages/etc that are serial specific. I ordered and have new service manuals, they are repro but are fine, I got old manual from the previous owner but it is in the same condition as bucket back stop.

well your pictures make it look a lot better than what i was imagining from your description. really those sprockets dont look too worn and the rails dont seem to be pounded flat either. Looks to me like you made a nice save. just needs a lot of TLC.
good luck

Got a shocker from Minnpar as I placed a order this morning; supplier for some of the pieces on these old dogs is shutting down the lines and ending replacement components, I could not get replacement master pins from them as they do not know when or IF they will ever be available again. Looks like back to old fashioned machining work again.

I am going to cut away the spill lip on that Ulrich bucket, plan to manufacture a brush cage from either 3/8 or 1/2 x 2 or 3" strapping to replace it, won't be working dirt that heavily to need it as a spill lip.
Filters are also a little scarce, found a few local but ended up purchasing most from Application Associates out of NJ, a Baldwin supplier. |
