Hello all.  I have been getting some help working on my G this winter from a neighbor who farmed with Allis' many years back, not a G specifically though.  Anyway, we have been having a lot of problems with it sounding like it was missing at an idle.  He rebuilt the carb and installed a new float.  All the plugs seem to be getting a spark, as we run the throttle higher it seems to get a little better but doesn't necessarily sound perfect yet.  I know it is a shot in the dark and the description is pretty vague but any suggestions?

Did you change spark plugs or wires?  Check points. I would start there. No resistor plugs or wires. Carb doesn't usually cause a miss. You could check the manifold for leaks. spray it with brake cleaner when it is running to see if rhe engine speeds up. Bob

I have the same problem with one of my G's. Did not check the manifold, but will now.

Maybe out of time a bit?I would check for vacuum leaks and then look at the timing.

If your electric is ok, are you sure your getting enough gas through to the carb?

Just took the tank off our G today, blew air back through cause she was a little plugged at the bottom of the tank where the shut off valve is. Much better now, also cleaned sediment bowl and carb.
