    Posted: 14 Dec 2011 at 8:33pm

I have lost the power in my power steering D17 series II.I have searched the site for a description of how to plumb in a priority flow valve to run off the front mounted pump.
The steering valve & ram look in reasonable shape but the pump is worn.I didn't do a pressure test but I'm pretty sure the pump is not producing much.
So any help in choosing a valve and installing it would be greatly appreciated.

Is your pump driven by the govenor gear shaft, or is it belt driven?

If you simply unhook the gear driven one, you will soon be in a world of hurt when it locks up, it has to have hydro oil in it to lube the bearings.  The belt driven pump will be easier to disable of course.

Thanks guys.Yes lubrication is one thing I was wondering about.I've read here (somewhere)that it's been done.Just can't find the threads when I search.
   It's the pump /distributer/governor combination.

It's looking like there is a problem because my excess oil from the control valve dumps right into the sump so I can't connect to the return line in the front tank.
  Any help would be appreciated
