In the last year I have seen at least three of these signs sell on eBay. Probably had seen three more the previous year, if not more. All of them in near excellent condition and advertised as original 1940's signs.  All of them brought above $250. I've never seen a rusty or dented sign of this style. Could these be old reproductions being confused with original?  I've never seen any of these on an old dealer or in any old dealer photos. Typically with old signage, you see more that are worn out than you do good ones.

From the looks of that sign I'd be afraid  it's a reproduction. You've got to be very careful buying sings off of ebay that say "original".

I would say it is a reproduction, if you notice it has a long A and a short S in the Allis Chalmers name. That to me is a dead give away. My thoughts.

i have an original sign thats like that sign but it is like 3'x6' two sides with a round roof.

I have also wondered that. I think the last one sold for $400. I used to collect Allis postcards but I am sure they are reproducing them so the only way to know for sure with postcards is buy a postmarked one with stamp.
