Tried a few soys before the rain came today and didn't get far.  Just wondering what settings some of you guys use, as I was getting alot of shelled pods in the bin.  I was at 7 on the choke setting and I will close the chaffer and seive down to the lowest setting of the book when I go back out.  How many teeth should the driven sprocket on the feeder beater housing have?  Mine has 38, and I thought there was an earlier post saying that there should be 18 or 25.   Maybe my combine would feed better with a little faster feeder beater.

I use a bean screen in my K .It takes the place of the seive.Its a screen with round holes in it.Beans are real clean,no pods.HTH Bill

Kevin there are many reasons for pods in the  bean what is the crop like do you have green pods do the mature pods snap between your figures the crop could be damp even with perfect settings. What is your cylinder opening and cylinder speed also what cylinders bars are in the door in the cylinder if you are getting mature unthreshed  pods in the bin the straw may be damp speed up the cylinder if that doesn't help close the cylinder

Wheatbreeder, the beans are mature, as they will shell out in the header, the stems could be a bit tough with the damp weather we have.  I am getting them all shelled out, but getting the chaff or open pods in the tank.  Thanks!

Kevin, like you suggested in your first post the chaffer and lower sieve needs to closed especially the lower sieve as it regulars what goes into the bin as you close it down more material goes into the return. On our f2  you can check the return elevator at the right window I think your m is the same. check the return with you hand you should have a hand full of mostly partly threshed pods and seed if you are getting a lot of seed back throught the return the bottom sieve is closed to much

Open the air, get the pods lifted at front of shoe and blow them out.  You will ride more beans out the back than you can blow out. Make sure the splitter is in good shape and set to where the air hits the front of lower sieve.  MACK

I am with Mack on that.  So many people want to shut the sieve and chaffer down,because they think they are going to loose beans. The more you shut them down,the more air you loose,and the more capacity you loose. The chaffer needs to seperate, the sieve cleans. I always open wide and go down from there. If your getting shelled pods,you dont have enough air going up and threw.

Good starting point for sieve opening is,close it down and throw a few handfulls of shelled beans down through the chaffer,then crack the sieve open till all the beans fall through and then just a little more. 3/8-1/2in from tip of finger to following chaffer batt should catch the beans and float the pods.Much more and you'll be overloading the sieve with trash.Air wide open. 3/8-1/2in actual clearence on cyl  @500rpm should thresh dry pods with little cracking.
   The thresher beater sprocket stays the same.It's the drive sprocket on cyl that sholud be 25T for corn and beans.
