This afternoon about 15 miles from here we witnessed a world record soybean harvest. 120 combines havested 160 acres in 11 minutes and 43 seconds. The goal was 10 minutes. This was all part of a fund raiser for the Food Grains Bank and they hoped to raise $200,000 by auctioning the soybeans and other various donations. There were a few Gleaners including a M2 and L3 and a new 67 but were badly out numbered by green, red, and yellow. Unfortunatly I had a camera malfunction and did not get any pictures. I'm sure there will be Youtube video shortly.

I'm sure the Gleaners saved the most grain, and had the cleanest sample also.

Wow, what a great time for the camera malfunction. :(
I thought I was gonna read about somebody getting 160 bushels per acre. http://deltafarmpress.com/soybeans/cullers-soybean-record-155-bushels-acre My neighbor got his beans off and was pleased to get 60 b/a on one farm. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 05 Oct 2011 at 9:03pm |

Okay I am figuring this up, each combine did 1.3333 acres in 11 mins. and 43 sec. by my math. One combine running a 25 foot head at 4 mph in a half mile field which would be 1.5 acres per pass would be done in 7 mins 30 seconds. What took these guys so long ?

Great day - Cathy and I watched - the combines doing the harvest. The combines ranged in size from an Int 315 to Case/Int 9120 on tracks and a new JD with 40 ft draper.
There was a JD 9400 with 18 ft head that finished in front of were we were standing.
Approx 3000 people were in attendance. This will likely be the most combines we will see in one field all at the same time. Thanks to all the organizers. A great job well done.

A 315! Not many of them around. Salesman at the CaseIH dealer I worked at used to say those machines weren't any good when times were good. I took it as that meant stay away from a 315. Cousin had one and he hated it.

Heres a good video. Lots of green ones but you can see a couple Gleaners out there. Pretty impressive sight.
